Real Conversations

Welcome to Worcester Real Conversations!
Worcester is trying a new way of doing politics.
Over two Saturday afternoons, a group of Worcester residents, who don’t usually engage in politics, met with me to come up with a vision for a stronger Worcester community and a list of actions that I and Worcester residents – people like them and you – could take to help make that a reality.
Now it’s your turn to share your views – you have until Sunday 6th September 2026.
The Worcester Real Conversations group’s vision for a stronger Worcester community is:
“A stronger Worcester community would bring people together over what we have in common, while also celebrating where we are different, and build relationships between people from different backgrounds.
We’d take care of each other and take pride in our shared spaces. We’d work together to make a difference in our communities and have a shared voice to affect change. We’d make sure it’s easy for anyone to join in.”
What can I as the MP, and Worcester residents, do to make this vision a reality?
We’re using a digital democracy tool called Polis.
The statements you will see on this Polis are each a possible action that either I as your MP, or Worcester residents, could take to make this vision a reality. They are ideas that other members of the public have come up with – whether that is the Worcester Real Conversations group, or people who are joining online for the first time.
How does this online conversation work?
You can vote on the actions submitted by other members of the public, and if you have another idea, you can write your own action for others to vote on. If you do add your own idea, please write it in the format “Tom can…” or “As Worcester residents, we can…“
If your submission is unclear or does not suggest a practical action, a human moderator may lightly reword it so that it fits the purpose of the conversation while keeping your original meaning.
Statements that are abusive, discriminatory, threatening, or unrelated to the topic will be removed.
Please share your views by Sunday 6th September 2026. New ideas will be shared by residents like you every day, so we encourage you to return from time to time to keep the conversation going.
What happens next?
After the online conversation closes, I will publicly share my response, how I’m going to embody what I’ve heard, and the actions from the Worcester community that I’m going to take.
I’ll also share the role that I hope people like you in the Worcester community can play. And I’ll create opportunities for us to work together to deliver some of these as well.
We look forward to hearing from you!
